Please protect the
free exchange and circulation of information on the Net by respecting
the copyrights and needs of creators. In order to keep doing what I do,
it's important that if people borrow bits of my work this is acknowledged
and done thoughtfully, and if the use is substantial that compensation
is made (where possible) for the blood, sweat and tears. So if you wish
to quote a small amount, as long as it is properly acknowledged and
referenced, that's great. But for anything over (let's say) 300 consecutive
words, please contact me and we can talk about it. Writing is what I do
for a living; please don't rip me off. (Not only is it ba-aaad karma,
but you might get caught.)
Acknowledgments:
Thanks to: Richard
Martin, my original webmaster who got it all started; Helen Kundicevic,
for the cover image of Things in a Glass Box, which is from her
series, The Philosopher's Stone; to Linda Dement and Random House for
the cover image of How to Conceive of a Girl; to Peter Steele for
the black and white photos of me at Bondi Beach and having a cup of tea
from 1997; and to the reviewers and critics I've quoted.
Want to buy the books?
Both How to Conceive
of a Girl and Things in a Glass Box are currently out of
print as books, but the full text of each is on my cd-rom Box of
Words, with pdf versions that you can print out for easy reading
(formatted like a book). Box of Words also contains a new collection
of essays, stories and poems called Heart, Mouth, and audio
versions of many of the pieces from these three collections. Or you
can get the double audio cd Body of Words, if you want something
to listen to in the car or while doing your dishes. Body & Box of
Words are both available from Dogmedia.
